POTTERY CLASSES
Spring Greetings Clay Mates!,
These longer days, with warmer temperatures and buds in bloom call for renewal and summon us out of hibernation ready to stretch mind, body and spirit. Here at Chateau Gigault the vines are starting to show their leaves, the first visible evidence of a long maturation process that will hopefully result in an excellent 2026 September harvest.
Not unlike the vines, we are coming out of our winter slumber ready to explore new horizons and refine those pursuits that bring us joy and harmony. If clay is your way (as it is mine), I invite you to stretch with me in an immersive creative capacity for a seven week adult hand building ceramic workshop (or a six week children’s hand building ceramic workshop) from my light filled studio at the Handkerchief Factory in Warren R.I.
All skill levels are welcome from newbies to seasoned amateurs. The first four classes will focus on wet clay construction, pinching, coiling, slab work and draping. The last three, (two for children) on glazing and firing.
We will be working with a low-fire cone 04 Terracotta reminiscent of the colors of the Southwest, as well as a mid-fire cone 6 white stoneware, both fitting for colorful underglazes and glazes.
In surrendering to the alluring process of wet clay construction, students will be encouraged to explore their preferences and comfort levels with the various hand building techniques presented. Each individual experience and outcome will vary as students navigate this meditative process, as important as the final outcome while in community with like minded creatives.
I will be there shepherding each student to achieve their intended masterpiece.
Having worked in clay throughout my life and taught at all skill levels, be assured that you will have the support you need whether new to clay or not.
Adult Classes
Offered on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 9 pm, Wednesday mornings from 9:30 to 12:30, or Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 pm.
The adult classes meet once per week for 7 weeks, and cost $420 for the workshop including all materials, instruction and firings. Should there be a schedule conflict for adults on a given date, students are free to make up classes in other time slots. Payment is preferred in full at the beginning of the workshop. Accommodation can be made for those who would rather pay weekly. Spots will be reserved on a first come first serve basis, limited to eight participants. Feel free to forward this to potentially interested friends and family or consider offering this workshop as a gift replete with a gift certificate available for purchase from my studio.

Children’s class
Offered Saturday mornings from 10 to 11:15AM for children ages 7 and up.
The children’s cost will be $222, a breakdown of $37 per class including all materials, instruction and firings. Payment is preferred in full at the beginning of the workshop. Accommodation can be made for those who would rather pay weekly. With limited slots available, responding promptly will increase your chances of securing a spot.
